一、they, then 和 their 指单个人

当不明确你所交谈对象的性别时，可用 they、them 和 their。这些词可用来回指前面的单词或短语，如 anyone, someone, each person和 a person 等

• Ask an adult if they can help you.
• 找个成年人问问，看他们是否能帮你。
• Anyone with a raincoat should take it with them.
• 有雨衣的人应随身携带。

二、they, them 和 their 指一群人

1.they, them 和 heir 还可以与ev%eryone, everybody, every person 等连用。

• Everyone was dressed in their best clothes.
• 人人都穿着他们最好的衣服。

2.在很正式的文章中，可以用 he or she, him or her 或 his or her 来替代。

• Each patient can make choices about his or her treatment.
• 每个病人都可以选择自己的治疗方案。

三、you 和 one

1.you 经常被用来泛指在何人，后面的动词用复数形式。

• To be a good doctor you need to have good communication skills.
• 要成为一名好医生，你需要好的沟通技巧
• It's easier to solve a problem when you know a lot about it.
• 当你对一个问题十分了解时，就不难解决。

2.one 同样可用来泛指任何人，但却正式得多。one 后面的动词用单数形式。

• One doesn’t talk about politics at the club.
• 人们一般不在俱乐部谈论政治问题。

四、man 和 mankind

1.man 和 mankind 同样可用来泛指任何人。

1. 例如，Human beings are destroying the environment 可以换而说成 Man is destroying the environment 或 Mankind com is destroying the environment。后面的动词用单数形式。

• …the most dangerous substance known to man.
• ……人类已知的最危险的物质。
• Mankind depends on trees。人类依赖树木。

2.很多人避免使用 man 和 mankind，因为这似乎给人们造成误解，即男性比女性更为重要，因此他们用 people 或 humans替代。
