so...that和such...that意思都是“如此……以至于”，都可以引导结果状语从句。但在用法上有区别。
重点提示：
①so是副词，修饰后面的形容词或副词；such是形容词，修饰后面的名词或名词词组。
He ran so fast that nobody in my class could catch up with him. 他跑得那么快，以至于我们班没有人能赶上他。
The food is so delicious that you don't need much of it to make you happy. 食物是如此美味，你不需要太多就能让你快乐。（2012新高考）
Mr Smiths spoke such simple English thatev%en I could understand it. 史密斯先生说的英语很简单，连我都能听懂。
②so...that和such...that中间都可以有：带有形容词的单数可数名词，但语序不同。
so+形容词+a(an)+do名词
such+a(an)+形容词+名词
My sister is so lovely a girl that all my friends like her.
My sister is such a lovely girl that all my friends like her.
我妹妹是一个非常可爱的女孩，我所有的朋友都喜欢她。
They said it was such a beautiful day that they would remember it forever. 他们说这是一个如此美丽的一天，他们将永远记住它。（2009浙江卷）
They said it was so beautiful a day that they would remember it forever.
③so与many，much，few，little等表示多少的词连用，一般不用such。
He had so many books in his bed room that there was only room for one bed. 他的卧室里有那么多的书，以至于只够放一张床。
He made so much money in one night that he couldn't believe it.他一夜之间挣了这么多钱，以至于他自己都不敢相信。
There were so few people present at the meeting that the headmaster was very angry. 出席会议的人太少，以至于校长非常生气。
They had so little water left that they were unwilling to drink it.他们只剩下很少的水了，以至于他们不舍得喝。
当little 表示“小”的含义时，用such。
She was such a little girl that she couldn’t speak clearly. 她太小了，以至于说话不清楚。
④so…that引导的结果状语从句，当so与其所修饰的词位于句首时，主句使用倒装结构。
So interesting is the film that many children like it. 这部电影很有趣，许多孩子都喜欢它。
So delicious is the food that you don’t need much of it to make you happy. 食物是如此美味，你不需要太多就能让你快乐。
